Agilent Technologies launches new technology Gas Chromatograph

Agilent Technologies, a scientific instrument company, launches new technology Gas Chromatograph to provide better and affordable analysis of chemicals. It will be popular in pharma, food and speciality chemical industry segments. The current market for such units is estimated at 1500 units. The company also plans to launch products in nano technology and genomics.

Indian government imposes anti-dumping duty on phposphoric acid and Diethyl Thio Phosphoryl Chloride

To protect its domestic industry from cheap imports, especially from South Kore, Indian government imposes anti-dumping duty on phposphoric acid and Diethyl Thio Phosphoryl Chloride (DTPC). The duty on DTPC is around USD 0.47 per kg and USD 1.36 per kg. The duty will be in force till December 21 2009. India is the forerunner with around 42 investigations under anti-dumping category followed by Brazil and China.

Central Pollution Control Board compiles hazardous chemicals list in India

Around 10 million chemicals are used commercially in India. In this around two thirds are used by industry. This poses a hazard and access to anti-dotes and safety practices are hard to find. To overcome this CPCB, has compiled data sheets on 708 hazardous chemicals on their websites. These are classified on physical-chemical properties, toxicity, reactivity, usage etc., It seems National Chemical Laboratory, Pune has helped in this exercise. The data is also available in CD. Arsenic Trioxide, Endothion , Diglycidyl ether, Endosulfan, Digitoxin, , Ergocalciferol and Mezacarbate are some of the listed lethal chemicals.

Insecticides India to set up 20000 tpa unit in Gujarat.

Insecticides India (IIL) which is manufacturing insecticides is planning to set up a plant with 20000 tpa capacity in Gujarat with an investment of Rs. 500 million. IIL which has raised an IPO recently will utilize that fund, internal accruals and debt to fund the project. It is also expanding its dealer network and retailers in southern India where it is showing good growth.
