Trience Speciality Chemiclas, a joint venture company between Meghmani Organics, Mitsui and Kaneka Corp of Japan is planning to produce chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CVPC) in India. Currently, Meghmani Organics has a plant in Dahej in Gujarat where it manufactures agrichemicals besides caustic chlorine where it will be used as raw material for Trience. The project cost is estimated at Rs. 6000 million and it will produce 20000 CVPC per annum. CVPC is slowly used as a substitute of copper hot pipes and the demand is growing in India. Currently, India imports around 50,000 tonnes of CVPC. In the joint venture, Kaneka will bring expertise, while Mitsui will handle raw material movement and marketing of the product.
