Berger Paints to set up a water based paint manufacturing unit in South India

Berger Paints to set up a water based paint manufacturing plant with a captive emulsions unit in South India. Currently, the company is scouting for land in the states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The project could entail an investment of Rs.1000 million and likely to be funded through internal accruals. It may be noted, water based paints constitute 60% of its market share and growing at 15-18 % compared to 8% growth in emulsion paints. The company is also set to commission an Rs.2600 million emulsion unit at its Vallab Nagar plant in Gujarat.

ICI India is planning to set up paint unit

ICI India is planning to set up paint unit in southern part of India with an investment of Rs. 2000 million. The paint unit may come up in Andhra Pradesh or Karnataka and the company is in talks with the state governments. Currently, it has an annual capacity of 700 million liters of paint production. It may also augment the capacity of Mohali and Thane paint plants. It may be noted, the company has made an exit from speciality business by divesting from Nitrex Chemcials India Ltd.

Nicomet Industries to expand its sulphate units at Cunolim


Nicomet Industries to expand its non-ferrous metal sulphate unit  at Cunolim in Salcete Taluka in South Goa with an investment of Rs. 300 million. The expansion will be carried out at its existing premises. The unit will use ores and concentrates w material and sourced from South African mines or imported from other countries. It will be usually in oxides, sulphide, hydroxide or carbonate form.

Mukesh Ambani ranked 6th among World Chemical Business leaders

 Mukesh Ambani, has been ranked 6th among the top business  chemical kings.  He was ranked 10th last year. The list is compiled by ICIS, the chemical industry information provider. The overall list contains 40 people who have changed the face of the chemical industry by way of mergers, acquisitions, policy leadership, innovation or financial performance. It also pays tribute to the record completion of Reliance Jamnagar refinery.
